The focus throughout this project was identifying and interpreting the character of Toronto Metropolitan University’s architecture building and to test how abstract concepts could become practical assets within a school of architecture. Scaffolding-like HSS members represents the constant growth of our program and our campus . They create a unique experience of space, blur the lines of boundary and can be used to as a tool. I felt it was necessary to make the culture of our program a feature of the design. To do so this DAS redesign includes 4 additional galleries to display architecture student work, and work from across all TMU programs. Circulation around the central atrium and through the galleries presents the opportunity for new perspectives of the building as well as new perspectives of the TMU student experience.
